This service is motionless, soundless, non invasive & safe to use on dogs & cats. No brushing is required which is good when dealing with sensitive gums & inflammation.
How does it work?
Using an Ultrasound toothbrush (each dog/cat has their own brush head) with a specially formulated toothpaste, the soft bristles are held against the teeth & gums allowing the teeth to be cleaned gently without irritation, vibration & noise. The ultrasound reaches right under the gum line to kill bacteria & cleans the gums to prevent the buildup of plaque & tatar. It also increases the blood flow to the gums to help heal wounds & stop bleeding.
Ultrasound cleans more effectively than regular brushing as it destroys bacteria even below the gum line.
By the time a dog is 2 years old it is estimated that 80% begin to show signs of oral disease. Regular oral hygiene is the best way to protect your dogs dental health & is recommended by veterinarians.
By using this process as part of your oral hygiene routine you will get the best results in the fight against dental decay.
It will not only help the dog/cats teeth but their general health as unhealthy teeth & gums will effect the dog/cats whole body and can change their behaviour. Bacteria from dental infections can affect the dog/cats organs & have other serious health implications.
You can't reverse gum disease or tooth decay so it really is best started from a young age to help prevent these issues.
How often?
- Stage 1 plaque 3-4 sessions carried out within 1 week
- Stages 2 bordering stage 3 Hardened Tartar 10-12 sessions carried out within
2 1/2 - 3 weeks, very bad teeth can take 15-20 sessions.
- Late stage 3 and stage 4 advise seeking veterinary attention.
Once the dogs teeth have improved we then recommend ideally cleaning once a week but even having the teeth cleaned as an 'add on' to your regular grooming session will be beneficial.
If the tartar starts to re-appear we can do another short course of sessions to get it under control.

Ultrasonic treatment is not a veterinary procedure & Tails of Cornwall cannot diagnose any problems with your dogs mouth. It is a service designed to help maintain healthy teeth & gums and does not preclude the need for regular veterinary check ups.
This is not a 'descale & polish' which is a dental procedure carried out by a Veterinarian under anesthetic.
